Bread Rolls Recipe

Bread Rolls Recipe is the simplest Indian snack dish and a great twist of boiled potatoes. Fried Bread Rolls are always easy in making and sometimes a quick school tiffin for the kids. Yesterday I was little confused while making the evening snack for my family. Then suddenly I saw few boiled potatoes in the upper shelf of my refrigerator. I generally keep boiled potatoes in my fridge and use them in such situations. Immediately Bread Rolls clicked in my mind. White Bread slices were also available, so I thought why not to make them quickly. My family enjoyed them a lot.
Bread with potato filling makes a mouthwatering snack. Bread Potato Rolls are crunchy from the outside, and soft and spicy from inside. Bread rolls with stuffed potatoes is always a tempting snack dish to serve with evening tea. It’s a snack that can be made in a jiffy if you have leftover boiled potatoes. These bread rolls are favorite at home and i usually pair them with the evening tea as a snack or sometimes as an appetizer with coriander and mint chutney.


I remember, first time I had these bread rolls in my school canteen, where a middle aged lady, used to call as aunty by everyone, would make them during our break time. Sometimes, she used to make them at her house and would carry them in large steel dabbas (jars) and they would be still warm when she would serve them to us. Since that day, I seriously got addicted of these yummy bread rolls.
Today, I would like to share this recipe with you. I have used normal bread slices for making my bread rolls, you can use multi grain bread, whole wheat or even brown bread. Even a bread two to three days old works well. I got a good time to click all the picture step by step for you. Hopefully you will also like my bread rolls. How to make Bread Rolls Recipe:

  1. Boil the potatoes, peel and place in a big bowl. Mash the boiled potatoes and keep aside. Bread-Rolls-Recipe---step-1
  2. Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and curry leaves. Mix ginger along with green chillies and saute continue on low flame. Add mashed potatoes, green peas, salt, turmeric and chaat masala powder. Mix well and leave for 2 minutes, until spices are well blended with potatoes. Garnish with good amount of chopped coriander leaves and keep the mixture aside. Bread-Rolls-Recipe---step-2
  3. Take 8 bread slices, and trim them from the edges. Soak in water just for a few seconds, press firmly and squeeze out the water. (Tip: Be very carefully while soaking the bread slices in water and do not dip them fully else they will break and it will be difficult to fill the stuffing inside it). Bread-Rolls-Recipe---step-3
  4. Now Put 1-2 tsp of prepared mixture in each bread slice and carefully fold it. You may seal the edges either with water or with flour. Heat good amount of oil in a frying pan and deep fry bread rolls, till turn crispy and light browned.

  5. Serve hot with Mint chutney and Tomato Ketchup.

  6. You can add red chilli powder for making more spicy bread rolls.
  7. Instead of deep frying, you can microwave these rolls or shallow fry them in less oil.
