BlackBerry cuts Q10 price for limited period

After slashing the price of its Z10 model a couple of months ago, BlackBerry has now announced a limited period special offer on the BlackBerry Q10. Under this special offer, customers can now purchase the  BlackBerry Q10 smartphone for Rs 38,990. Starting Monday, this offer will be valid till January 26, 2014.

The BlackBerry Q10 is the company's flagship smartphone with a QWERTY keypad. At the time of the launch, the Q10 was priced slighlty higher than the Z10. So far there had not been any siginificant price-drop and the device continued to retail between Rs 42,000 to Rs 44,000 (depending up on the retailers).

Retailers, however, maintain that this is a permanent price drop for the BlackBerry Q10.

Sunil Lalvani, Managing Director, BlackBerry India, says: "There are several customers in India who love the physical QWERTY experience offered by BlackBerry. At this compelling price point, QWERTY loyalists can take advantage of the powerful BlackBerry 10 platform as well as the unique QWERTY experience that the BlackBerry Q10 offers."

Earlier in June this year, BlackBerry was giving Amex card users a Rs 5,000 gift card on the purchase of the BlackBerry Q10 (using debit or credit card).
